Family Fun Day - Santa's Village
It has been a lonnnnnnnnnggggggggg school year. Now that school is out it is time for some fun. We got in the car and drove just a little past Woodfield Mall to visit Santa’s Village and Azoosement Park with Cassie. We had more fun than we ever anticipated. The ultimate experience package gets you a bit of everything here and is really an amazing deal, we checked it out for you.
Rides of all sizes are here. There is a whole set for those little little ones. But Cassie was thrilled to get to be a “Rocket(wo)man” burning out her fuse up there alone. The roller coaster’s first drop had her belt out a serious scream and she passed on going a second time with mom. She and I also went “up up away in our beautiful balloon”. It was the first ride we hit in the park as Tim held my purse (aka beach bag) and pet a donkey that befriended him. See him and his new bestie in my animal section, There also was a real thrill seeker ride called the Blizzard that went back and forth, spun and went upside down. Tim and I opted to have a couple adult beverages instead of ride that to make us dizzy that day.
Ok, here is a pretty important piece of info for the moms and dads out there. You can get a drink at Santa’s Village. We enjoyed some Summer Shandies, but there are also other beers, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and they will also spike lemonade and “Chilly Willy’s” for you. I spied whipped cream vodka, vodka, apple pucker, Malibu and some other things that they could use to “dizzy” up your drink. Cheers!
Don’t forget, this is an A”ZOO”sement Park. You can see alpacha, donkeys, cows, goats, tortoises, parakeets and more… and yes, there are reindeer. You can feed many of the animals in the farm area but the feed stick with the parakeets was truly a memorable experience. The birds fly back and forth and will go on your arm. your phone as you try to take a selfie and more. I did not personally witness anyone who the birds “christened” but you do know they say its good luck if a bird poops on you. This is a must do at Santa’s Village. Unless you have a fear of birds or are Tippy Hedren.
There are also games, and arcade and a mining station… Yes, those two got in some skeeball after a hard 20 minutes at the mines searching for emeralds. Our new friend the pink bear was won at the carnival games and lucky me toted him around for the rest of the day. Game cards, carnival game and mining bag vouchers all come with the ultimate package and a quite a value, (psst, those emerald mine bags are $12.99). The mining was a nice relaxing and wind down type activity before we hit up the arcade.
Ok, I promised this on my Instagram so here we are. My personal review of the water slides. I went on both the Peppermint Twist and the Caribbean Curl. People warned me on the line that the enclosed slide the Peppermint Twist had people slow down and get stuck in it. I believe that these people manipulated themselves in this slide to do so. I slid down so quickly that I was getting shocked at my speed and may have let out some little screams. It was nice and twisty but I stayed pretty much centered in the slide. Now the open Caribbean Curl was also faster than I thought it would be and I found myself slipping ups the sides more on the turns and again there may have been some little screams to make the lifeguard laugh his teenaged butt off when I splashed down. Both get a thumbs up from me - make sure and cross your arms and lay back to optimize your speed. Be aware if the temperature is low on the day you go Santa’s Springs will not open.
